Torridon - 21 - 23 May 2004

Rivalling Glencoe in terms of scenery, Torridon is one of the most popular areas of the northern Highlands. Ling Hut is right in the center of all this, and is about a 10 minute walk from the road along a very good path. Right outside the door are two of the very best traverses in the area: Liathach and Beinn Eighe, and just down the road are Beinn Alligin and Beinn Dearg. The sandstone ridges and crags which make up most of the hills hereabouts offer excellent walking and scrambling of a fairly easy standard. There are valley and coastal walks for those who don't want to climb hills, and who could resist a visit to the magnificant Choire Mhic Fhearachair and its towering Triple Buttress? There is climbing on this at all grades, though even the easier routes have a serious air about them. Ling Hut always promises a good party; a few years ago someone even carried a keg of beer there!

Landranger sheets 25 & 19 are suggested.
