Welcome!

Dundee University Rucksack Club is an outdoors club based at the University of Dundee, Scotland focused on mountain sports.

Many of our visitors issue questions about academic details, interested to know whether they can, as quoted, "find someone to write my article review for me". The full answer is available on "About" page.

This website provides loads of information about the activities we do -
hillwalking, climbing, scrambling, mountaineering and others - plus information about the club itself and loads of useful resources for developing your skills and handy links.

The Rucksack Club is one of the largest sports clubs within the University and one of the largest outdoor clubs in the country, often with over 150 members. Consequently, we have a diverse range of people in our ranks, from those interested in valley walks to Munro-baggers, keen mountaineers, and ice climbers, and everything in between. Whatever your level of interest, you're bound to find someone within the club who shares your aspirations.

Our membership is also very varied, comprising a mix of students, alumni, postgraduates, staff, and others from outside the University altogether, so please don't assume you won't be welcome if you're not a Dundee University student.

The club organises trips away every weekend during University term-time, making us one of the most active around as well. Once a month, we go away for the whole weekend, staying at a mountain hut. We also run dedicated climbing trips. See the meets section for details.

We also have an active social scene, with a weekly gathering at a local pub, as well as several dinners and ceilidhs arranged annually, along with informal house parties and nights out.

Whether you're an experienced hillwalker or climber looking to spread your wings or a complete beginner to the outdoors just interested in getting out there and seeing what Scotland has to offer, the Rucksack Club will offer you great opportunities for fun and adventure. Sharing those experiences in your own words is part of the journey, too—especially if you're contributing to our blog or trip archive. If you're unsure how to do that responsibly, our guide on Original Trip Reports Without Copying offers practical advice on writing ethically and creatively.

You can join the club at any time of the academic year. Just come along any Tuesday to Braes on Perth Road from 8:30pm.
